Gone is the doo wop twang that made Meghan Trainor stand out in a sea of would-be pop stars and here is the bass-heavy style reminiscent of everything - good or bad - to come out of the late '90s.
In the new video for her latest single, "NO," Trainor goes for a darker palette than the candy-colored sets of the singles from her debut album, Title, and ditches her skirts and jackets for fishnets and body suits. Trainor also tries to get in on her backup dancers' groove by fully participating in pieces of the choreography instead of bopping along at a mic stand. Unfortunately for her the pros show her up and make her look for the most part noncommittal. If you're going to pop, lock, and head snap, you have to feel it in your soul, girl.
