Channing Tatum May Star in All-Male Ghostbusters Remake
Tatum is already set to co-produce.
While there's already an all-female remake of the 1984 comedy classic in the works, ETonlinereports that Sony's also planning all-dude version.
It seems Sony has created a new production company named Ghostcorps with original Ghostbusters creators Dan Aykroyd and Ivan Reitman. The pair has already rounded up Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier--and Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce to write the screenplay. Tatum will co-produce and will hopefully star in the film as well.
When Paul Feig's all-female reboot was announced, the news was met mostly with joy. Fans thought the casting of Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, and Melissa McCarthy was genius and would be produce some comedy gold.
Misogynistic Internet trolls, however, reacted in horror. Though this all-male remake is probably just another way to expand the franchise, we hope that none of that hateful malarkey had anything to do with Sony's decision.
There is no news on a release date for the all-guy version, but Paul Feig reboot is set to come out July 22, 2016.
