Ready for the All-Female Cast of Ghostbusters?
Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, and Melissa McCarthy are in talks to star in the Paul Feig-directed, all-female Ghostbusters remake, according to THR. Can you think of a stranger -- yet better -- announcement?
First, let's think about it: The original solidified the star power of two of the comic actors -- Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray -- while the other two, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson, didn't really have such an illustrious future. Second: who is going to play the Sigourney Weaver part to be possessed by Zuul? Could it be: Chris Evans? Ryan Reynolds? Chris Pratt? We could go on and on.
Currently, Melissa McCarthy is the only one who has signed on, and the other three are still in negotiations. Of course having lesbian comedian McKinnon in the mix couldn't make us happier. And both Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones will be genius. Please make this happen!
It seems Dan Aykroyd, who also co-wrote the 1984 Ghostbusters film, is also thrilled and told The Hollywood Reporter: "The Aykroyd family is delighted by this inheritance of the Ghostbusters torch by these most magnificent women in comedy."
