Willie Gomez took a break from his duties as Britney Spears' principle dancer on her Vegas Piece Of Me show to strip off all his clothes in the California desert for a calendar photoshoot--as one does.
The aforementioned calendar, STARK, features a dozen shots by photographer Kevin McDermott of Gomez in his muscle-clad, birthday suited glory. (Hallelujah!)
"I thought this setting would be a great open stage to highlight his talent of moving that incredible body," McDermott explains. "So on his weekend off, we drove to California and shot late in the day and at dawn in two different locations, El Mirage and Death Valley (which lived up to name-it was incredibly hot). We got down to work and worked really well together trying different things: jumps, poses, portraits. Its funny, but when you're working like that, you sort of forget that he's naked."
Funny, because we definitely did not. (*insert beading eyes emoji*).
So how did the collab come about? "Kevin and I followed each other's work on Instagram for quite a while and I've always wanted to work with him as he's one of my favorite photographers," Gomez explains. "We linked up and talked about the possibility of creating something refreshing and different. I told him that black and white is my favorite form of photography and then he mentioned the idea of going to shoot in the desert naked using my body language as a dancer-I liked where this was going straight away."
Was Gomez's excitement for the shoot, ahem... noticeable? "I can control myself so no there was no hard ons," he says with a laugh. "Though a few small planes flew by really close so I'm sure they got a good shot of me fully naked as I was jumping and rolling around the dry lake bed. You will see what I mean once the full calendar is out."
