Happy Friday, Out readers!
This was an excellent week for reality TV! On Project Runway season 21, history was made when Veejay Floresca won the season. Floresca is the first-ever out trans person to win the show!
Floresca is highly driven and finished as the runner-up on the Philippines' version of the show. Since then, she's applied year after year for the American version, and now that she got her chance to compete, she took her shot and won the whole thing!
"I’m an immigrant, I’m a trans woman, a trans woman of color, and people need to see that we are not enemies,” Floresca said after her win. "We are just normal people with dreams and aspirations, and I hope that my story can change people’s perspective. For anyone struggling, I hope that you hear my story and know: You’ve got this.”
Over on Apple TV+, Eugene Levy's reality show had a touching moment when the proud father got to open up about the moment his son, Dan Levy, came out to him.
"We were, I think, well aware that he was gay, but we were just waiting, you know, for the right time for him to feel comfortable enough to tell us," Levy says in the clip. "I mean, it was out, and it was a huge thing off the plate for him. And it was fine, it was just like, 'OK, there you go.'"
