Jimi Urquiaga, better known as Missleidy Rodriguez, is a beloved queen in the Pines waterfront who's become an integral part of the island's cultural fabric — running a plant shop by day and dazzling audiences with their signature drag show by night.
And yet, this summer felt different. With the Fire Island Pines waterfront now under the leadership of Tristan Schukraft, there was a palpable sense of transformation, like the Pines had just entered a new era.

That sense of change and magic in the air attracted to the Pines names like DJ Lina Bradford, DANIRO, DJ Dawson, Carlushi, Alexis Tucci, and Mascari, among others. High Tea at the Pavilion reopened with renewed sparkle, Drag Brunch was revitalized with a powerhouse cast, and The Pool day club welcomed the public with exciting events. A full roster of innovative programming gave visitors a surge of excitement from the moment that they stepped off the ferry.

Building on the success of her previous photography books, Pines Summer of '23 and '24, Missleidy set out to capture this new shift through her own lens, shining a spotlight on the bartenders, servers, performers, and behind-the-scenes visionaries who bring Fire Island Pines to life.
The result? PINES Summer of '25 — The Paradigm Shift, a striking 244-page hardcover photography book chronicling the season across eight dynamic chapters. The book combines stunning photography by Martin Gatti, Carmen Decristo, and Flavia Daniele with alongside raw, disposable-camera snapshots taken by island staff — giving fans a fun and unfiltered overview of this summer of change.
