A street preacher in England received a wet response to his homophobic sermon over the weekend when he was doused with milk.
According to a report in
Hull Daily Mail
, an unnamed man was standing on a bench in Queen Victoria Square in the city of Hull Friday preaching his hateful attacks on the
+ community. Young people were standing up and fighting back with strong words and by waving rainbow flags close to the man's face. Finally, someone in the crowd appeared to have heard enough.
Another unnamed man who recorded the incident on video, told
he heard someone in the crowd that he would give the preacher "five seconds" to stop speaking
"I was just passing the square and the preacher had obviously upset a group with his comments," the recorder recalled. "He was being heckled and someone was waving a rainbow flag over him. They then went to shop and came back with eggs and milk and started throwing it over him."
In the video, one person can be seen holding a container of milk and giving the man one last chance to silence his hate speech. But when the preacher chose not to heed the warning, he was quickly drenched.
"LGBTQ community," the preacher proclaimed immediately after the milky assault. "The loving, loving, tolerant, [expletive deleted] LGBT community. There it is."
The witness, who said he was on holiday, left the square but came back a short time later to see the street preacher being escorted by police to an awaiting van. It was unclear if any arrests were made in connection with the incident.
