The Swedish-born producer and Grammy-nominated DJ known as Avicii has been found dead at the age of 28. The shocking news comes days after the musician, born Tim Bergling, was nominated for a Billboard Music Award for top dance/electronic album for his EP Avicii (01).
Avicii had suffered from health problems in the past including acute pancreatitis, which was in part due to excessive drinking, and in 2014, he had his gallbladder and appendix removed. After taking time off to recover, he announced his retirement from touring in 2016.

The DJ has spent over a decade creating music after he began producing at the age of 16. Over his career, he crafted hits like "Wake Me Up" and "You Make Me" and won two MTV Music Awards, one Billboard Music Award and earned two Grammy nominations.
Publicist Diana Baron released a statement confirming the news, saying "The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time," the statement said.
