The artist is also known for captivating visuals, and her new video for album track "Frontline" is no exception. The Sims-inspired clip transforms Kelela into a 3D video game character, leaving a lover in the dust and firing up a blunt as she picks up her girls in a convertible.

Last fall, Kelela told Fader about the higher standards black artists are held to. "White people don't understand that the reason [black people] are so good is... because we don't have the space to suck," she explained. "The urgency in which you have to nail the thing is so high..." And she continues to nail the thing, every time.
