The Grammy winner's lawyer says he's "glad that we could bring closure."

Frank Ocean has won a libel suit filed against him by his dad, Law360 reports. The Grammy winner's father, Calvin Cooksey, had filed a claim in response to Ocean's 2016 Tumblr post describing how his dad called a transgender waitress a gay slur when he was a child.

Cooksey argued the post was costing him "future financial opportunities" through defamation.

Judge Stephen V. Wilson ruled, according to Law360, that while "the court doesn't have to rule whether the statement was truthful, Calvin Cooksey still had failed to meet necessary elements to make his defamation claim."

Ocean's lawyer, Keith Bremer, released a statement to Pitchforksaying, "It was a super sad case. I am sorry that my client had to go through this and am glad that we could bring closure."

While the decision was announced Tuesday, a full written explanation is expected from the judge later this week.
