Chrishell Stause will not be tuning in to season 10 of Netflix reality series Selling Sunset. Her lawyers, on the other hand, will be watching closely.
During a red carpet interview for The Hollywood Reporter’s Creator A-list party on October 21, the Selling Sunset alum shared that she will not be watching the series following her dramatic exit following the show’s season nine reunion.
“I hope they have an amazing season,” she said. “I’ll have lawyers let me know if there’s defamation, but I feel like, to be honest with you, if you love something, let it go.”
Stause became a fan favorite during her nine seasons on the show, rising as a main character whose storylines were often the central focus.. She surprised and delighted LGBTQ+ fans in 2022 when she came out as queer herself and revealed she was dating nonbinary musician G Flip, appearing in the Australian drummer’s sexy music video for “Get Me Outta Here.” The pair married in May 2023 and have had wedding ceremonies to renew their vows every year since.
As the couple’s love blossomed and Stause came into herself as a queer person, her presence on the luxury real estate show became more self-assured. Subsequent seasons showed her putting up boundaries with friends, asserting herself at work, and calling out homophobia. But sometimes, self-growth isn’t met with the most generous assumptions, particularly when it comes to a queer person finding themselves amid a largely straight friend group.
Season seven of Selling Sunset marked a turning point for Stause, who was subjected to intense scrutiny during filming. Stause corrected her co-star Marie-Lou Nurk when she misgendered her partner, confronted Amanza Smith after she continued associating with a stylist who made homophobic comments towards her, and called out Bre Tiesi for allegedly using a transphobic slur against G Flip.
During the season nine reunion, Stause broke the fourth wall by revealing exchanges she had with her best friend Emma Hernan’s boyfriend Blake Davis that she said were racist and homophobic. While Stause questioned why Hernan would stay with a man who is purportedly bigoted towards queer people and people of color, especially given her close friendships with Stause and co-star Chelsea Lazkani, who is a Black woman, other Selling Sunset stars criticized Stause for bringing up the exchange in the first place.
Following the heated season reunion, Stause made it clear that she would not be returning in a November 2025 cover story with Bustle, and would instead be enjoying her queer life with her spouse, split between Los Angeles and Sydney. While she might not be watching the show, she assured The Hollywood Reporter that her representation will certainly be reviewing it for any defamation.
“That being said, don’t defame me,” Stause added. “I will sue you.”
