Happy Monday, Out readers!

And happy Mother's Day to all the mothers of all types and genders and journeys.

Mother’s Day was this weekend, and I want to take this opportunity to talk about how wonderful my own mother is. From an early age, she could tell I was queer and would let me know that I would be supported no matter what. It still took me more than 25 years to come out.

In this recent piece, published on our sister site Pride.com, I talked about my mom and how she helped make my childhood a place where I thought lesbians were the coolest thing around. My mom introduced me to the Indigo Girls, Rosie O'Donnell, Ellen, Tracy Chapman, and other lesbian icons of the early 90s, and made them seem so cool that I've wanted to be a lesbian since before I knew I was a girl.

Throughout my transition and coming out, she's been nothing but overwhelmingly supportive, affirming, and loving. She was there through all my darkest moments, and she was beside me for all the best. She's now one of my best friends.

So thank you mom, I wouldn't be here without you.

Now, onto the news.

Man Crush Monday

I Saw the TV Glow star Justice Smith is our Man Crush Monday this week! In the new horror film from trans director Jane Schoenbrun, Smith plays Owen, who we first see as a middle schooler, but follows for fifty years of his life. It's a brilliant performance that will stick with you and should put him in Award Season conversations. Go see it now!

What We're Watching

There's so much great stuff to watch this week! The new season of Interview With the Vampire starts, and the current season of Top Chef, hosted by Kristen Kish, is fully underway! When it comes to movies, I'm excited to watch I Saw the TV Glow for a second time and I just saw Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes! Both great!
