Well, that just makes us feel old. The last time Dior released a fragrance for men was Dior Homme (with Jamie Dornan as its muse), and it was in 2005. Ten years later, Sauvage comes out as a new addition to Dior's stellar fragrance portfolio --personal fav': Bois d'Argent.
Composed by perfumer-creator Francois Demachy, Sauvage is meant as a fresh and strikingly masculine scent, with classic notes of geranium, lavender, and vetiver uplifted by Sichuan pepper and bold accents of ambrax, a molecule derived from ambergris.
The ultimate "Sauvage" man according to Dior, Johnny Depp agreed to be the face of a fragrance for the first in his career. The actor stars in a campaign film conceptualized by the legendary Jean Baptiste Mondino, to be released worldwide on September 2. Judging from the teaser-trailer, it's rather promising.
The new scent also comes in an after-shave lotion ($55), and as a matching deodorant spray ($27).
Dior Sauvage, Eau de Toilette, 3.4 fl. oz. $89 (2 fl. oz., $72 for 60ml), available now at Dior counters nationwide and Dior.com
