Skip is coming back!
News about the eagerly-awaited second season of Heated Rivalry has been trickling in over the course of the last several months, and now we have confirmation that two fan-favorite characters are definitely returning.
In a new interview, François Arnaud announced that he will be reprising his role as hockey captain Scott Hunter alongside Robbie G.K., who plays his love interest, Kip Grady.
"I can tell you that there’s more of Scott, but I can’t tell you in what capacity. There are various things at play," he told WWD.
The out bisexual actor was tight-lipped about plot details, but said that "there’s definitely more of Scott and Kip."
Episode 3 of Heated Rivalry tells almost all of Kip and Scott’s love story, but there is still plenty of plot left to mine for season 2. In Common Goal, the fourth book in the Game Changer series written by Rachel Reid, Scott and Kip — dubbed “Skip” by fans — get married.
G.K. has even previously said that he wants to see characters tie the knot, and told Out that there is a lot more story to “explore” between Scott and Kip.
"You know, I can't really say anything as far as the next couple of episodes — I'm trying not to say any spoilers — but there's a whole world between Scott and Kip," he said. "If we chose to explore that more, I would be thrilled to just be a part of any and everything that I could get my hands on."
Creator Jacob Tierney had already confirmed that Scott would feature in the upcoming season, but now Arnaud has assured fans that Kip is coming back too, people are guessing that walking down the aisle is in their future. Does that also mean that we’ll get more of Kip’s bestie Elena, played by Nadine Bhabha? Only time will tell!
Scott also shows up toward the end of The Long Game, asking Ilya and Shane if they want to help him fight for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sports, so that scene could be included as well.
Filming for season 2 is set to start next week with a release date of April 2026, and because of all of the actors’ newfound fame, stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams have already been photographed together all over Toronto by eager fans. While Arnaud already had some experience with fame — he previously starred in The Borgias and Schitt’s Creek — with being in the spotlight, this level of stardom is something they are all still getting used to.
"It’s been a crazy ride, but I’m finding my footing — not that I feel like I lost it ever," Arnaud said. "The good definitely outweighs the bad. I’m so proud to be part of that show and that it reached so many people. And I’m trying to be smart and make the most of it for the rest of my life. It’s not even something that I dreamed of. Fame for me was always kind of a tool to actually get the work that I want to do."
