9-1-1 star Ryan Guzman has revealed the origins of his show's popular Eddie and Buck ship.
Guzman was on the Zach Sang Show when Sang asked him about the show's active fanbase and how they "create storylines, that may or may not exist," in reference to the ship between Eddie and Buck.

Guzman said that as far as he could tell, the shipping started because his costar Oliver Stark, "doesn't know how to walk straight."
"That's a huge one," Guzman said in reference to the Eddie/Buck ship. "We have such a massive following with that, and it all started from I think it was season 2, Eddie and Buck were walking down and we kept on bumping each other's shoulders. So somebody picked up on that and that's where it just kept on growing and growing and growing and growing."
When Sang asked if that physicality was intentional, Guzman laughed.
"No, it's just because Oliver doesn't know how to walk straight," he said. "That's it."
Guzman noted that Stark had been bumping him that way for several seasons, and that one season, "we were doing a scene, and we're walking towards the same way, and he's doing it again, and I had to actively, like, work against his little push that he does."
"But with that, the audience sees that, runs with it, we encourage it," he added.
Fans have been shipping the characters Eddie and Buck for years on the show, and in the show's 100th episode in 2024, Evan "Buck" Buckley kissed a man, fellow firefighter Tommy, for the first time.
While Eddie is still presenting as straight on the show, many fans are still hoping he will eventually get with Buck.
Stark has also said that he wants to keep exploring Buck's sexuality on the show.
"I really want to see Buck continue to explore what it is that really speaks to him, and what he's into," Stark said. "He's obviously going to continue down this path with Tommy for now. I don't know what that story is going to end up being, but I would really like for Tommy to stay a part of Buck's life, regardless."
The actor added, "He's obviously opened this door for him, and I think it would be really nice if [Tommy] was able to continue to hold [Buck's] hand and could help guide him through this process. As somebody who's a little older and more experienced, to kind of help shepherd Buck into this new phase of understanding who he is."
