Everything We Know About SZA's New Deluxe Album 'Lana'
In many ways, 2023 belonged to singer SZA.

The 34-year-old singer released her second full-length album SOS to critical and fan acclaim just before the new year, and it spent ten non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 and spawned the number one song “Kill Bill.”
The album also received nine nominations at the 66th Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, and Song and Record of the Year for “Kill Bill.”
But SZA isn’t content to rest on her laurels. She’s also hard at work on her next album, titled Lana, named after the singer whose real name is Solána Rowe. While she hasn’t announced a release date, list of features, or track list, she has been dropping some hints about the upcoming deluxe album.
She also started releasing album covers for the project on her Instagram. There are six covers in total.
Here’s what we know so far.:
In August, SZA told Variety that the new album was made up of SOS outtakes “and new stuff, too.”
“It’s like a whole new project,” she said. “It’s called Lana – my name, but it’s the first tattoo that I ever got when I was 13. It was ten bucks a letter and only had $40, so that became my nickname for no reason. Lana is really just the B-side of SOS.”
At a September 8 concert in Brooklyn, SZA announced that the new album would be “seven to ten songs and it’ll be out this fall.”
In November, she spoke to Variety again about the project.
“It became more than I thought. It was gonna be something really soft because I had made all my screaming points [on SOS], and I just wanted to glide and not think and just get out of my own head,” she said. “I was so happy to say some shit that didn’t mean a fucking thing. But now it’s definitely turning it into its own album. I guess I could drop another album randomly, because no one’s actually expecting that from me right now.”
Since then, she’s refused to announce a release date or tracklist, but we’re hopeful about getting more information soon!
