Sha'Carri Richardson just won her first ever gold medal.
Richardson, one of the biggest stars for Team USA at this year's Paris 2024 Olympics just won the gold medal along with the rest of the women's 4x100 sprint team in stunning fashion today.
For Richardson, the win was a bit of redemption after she was disqualified from her first Olympics in 2021, and then finished in second place in her first event at these Paris games.
Richardson anchored the race for Team USA and took off as soon as she got the baton. Late in the race, she turned to see how her competitors were doing, but kept on accelerating.
Great Britain took the silver, and Germany won the bronze.
Richardson won a silver medal in her high-profile Olympic debut last week in the 100m dash with a time of 10.87 seconds. Now, she has a gold to add to it.
Richardson first became a sports star in 2021 when she won at the Olympic track and field finals in Oregon and thanked her girlfriend for both supporting her and picking the color of her hair for the race.
Unfortunately, she was then disqualified from the Tokyo Olympics after she failed a drug test for THC. At the time, she was mourning the death of her mother, who had died the week before the race.
Congratulations to Richardson on finally winning Olympic gold!
