'Nimona' Trailer Has Badass Action, Beautiful Animation, & Gay Knights

The first full trailer for Netflix’s Nimona, based on the graphic novel of the same name by ND Stevenson (She-Ra and The Princesses of Power) is here, and we want to LIVE in it!

Nimona takes place in a stunning techno-magical world where knight Ballister Boldheart is accused of a crime he didn’t commit and has to go into hiding to try to find out what’s really going on. It’s then that he meets a teen girl with a cool haircut and chaotic attitude who says she’ll be his sidekick, “because once everyone sees you as a villain, that’s what you are.”

“Promise you won’t freak out,” Nimona asks Ballister before she shows off her impressive shapeshifting powers. Then, all hell breaks loose. Nimona turns into a wolf, a rhino, an otter, an ostrich, a whale, and a dragon, all with her signature pink style.

The animation and action in this movie are absolutely spectacular! It’s one of the most beautiful animated worlds we’ve seen in a long time, and every character design is better than the last.

It also shows us some of the big, huge heart of the movie. We see that Ballister and Ambrosius, the man in charge of hunting him down, used to be in love. We see Ballister defending Nimona when Ambrosius calls her a monster. “Don’t call her that,” he says, “Nimona is smart, kind, and sophisticated!”

Nimona is looking to be one of the best movies of the year, animated or otherwise. It debuts on Netflix on June 30.
