The 72-year-old Irish actor is showing off an all-new side of himself in the new trailer for the reboot of the police comedy The Naked Gun.
In the new film, Neeson plays Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the original main character from the Police Squad show and Naked Gun movies (played by the late Leslie Neilsen), but he's in disguise when we first meet him in the trailer.
The teaser shows a violent hostage situation unfolding in a bank, when a young schoolgirl licking a lollipop walks into the scene.
"What do you want little one," one of the bank robbers asks, before the girl peels off her mask and stands at full height, revealing she's actually Liam Neeson in the schoolgirl uniform – complete with a plaid miniskirt and strawberry panties!
The trailer also, of course, includes a nod to another star of the original movies, O.J. Simpson.
Footage shown at CinemaCon of the film showed Neeson beating a man with his own dismembered arms, sexual activity between Neeson's and Pamela Anderson's character "that are not quite what they seem" and Neeson telling a character he is interrogating "It says you've served 20 years for man's laughter. Must have been quite the joke," per The Hollywood Reporter.
The Naked Gun reboot also stars Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Liza Koshy, Cody Runnels, and CCH Pounder. It was written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, along with Akiva Schaffer, who directed.
Naked Gun opens August 1 in theaters.
