The Best Dressed Looks from the 2019 Oscars Red Carpet
The Best Dressed Looks from the 2019 Oscars Red Carpet
For the Hollywood awards season, all red carpets lead to the Oscars. One of the most anticipated nights in Tinseltown requires a highly anticipated line-up of fashions, and every year the nominees (and other attendees) bring out the looks in spades. There's always undoubtedly a few haute couture pieces, a ton of custom, and more than one surprise.
This year things got started over an hour early, with some of our favorites like Shangela and Billy Porter arriving mid day, each kicking things off with dynamic ensembles. As the red carpet continues to unfurl, we will update this slideshow with the best dressed queers (and queer icons) to hit the floor.
Shangela
She may have started as a baby, first bursting on the scene with RuPaul's Drag Race season two, but she turned it up on the Oscars red carpet tonight (as a guest of Jenifer Lewis). Our Shangela is truly all grown up, stunning in her custom Diego Montoya gown.
Kacey Musgraves
After elevating from LGBTQ+ ally to icon when she crowned our queens in All Stars 4, Miss Musgraves turned up in a frothy pink Giambattista Valli look of pure perfection. The yee-haw agenda is strong.
Adam Lambert
After announcing an upcoming single, the Queen frontman turned up at the event ready for a performance. Before he hit the stage, he put on all the accessories (earrings, anyone?) and an orchid to personalize his Tom Ford suit.
Amandla Stenberg
According to them, "this dress makes me feel tough and soft at the same time." And you know what else Amandla? This number, by Miu Miu, makes you look beautiful.
Billy Porter
Hoop, there it is! (Skirt, that is.) The Pose actor gave the kids a definite serve, stepping out on the carpet in a tuxedo-turned-gown -- which would later change into palazzo pants -- all made by Christian Siriano. (Well, except for the chunky 6-inch heel you couldn't see; those were Rick Owens.)
Lady Gaga
Whether or not she ends up going home with an Oscar (we have no doubt she will,) Lady Gaga has already turned up to the festivities in a 128.54-carat Tiffany diamond. The last time it's been seen? On Audrey Hepburn in a Breakfast at Tiffany's shoot. What else was there to put with that stunner of an Alexander McQueen gown?
Jennifer Lopez
A true queer icon, doing what needs to be done (serving looks, looking pretty) while wearing a head to toe (and wrist) metallic Tom Ford number.
Rachel Weisz
The Oscars is always good for a stunt. One of the most common? Calling in one of the looks that was just on the runway in the past six weeks, like Rachel Weisz with this Valentino haute couture moment in all red. Who doesn't love a lady in red?
Sarah Paulson
Sarah Paulson, our current Supreme looked picture perfect in the night's trending color: Pink. For her gown she chose incoming Project Runway judge Brondon Maxwell.
Regina King
If you're goign to go to the Academy Awards, you might as well look like a winner. And obviously, winners wear Oscar de la Renta!
Glenn Close
You have to carry the look sometiems and that's exactly what Glenn Close did with a this gold Wes Gorden option made of 4,000 beads weight about 50 pounds.
Tessa Thompson
Only the best for our Tessa Thompson. And tonight, the best was a haute couture Chanel sprign 2019 look featuring tiers and gold embroidery.
Laura Dern
Sometimes you don't need all the fluff and the frill. A nice heavy set of diamonds for the nexk, and a nice ruched wine colored Rodarte gown and Laura Dern is set.
