Forrest Bess
The largely forgotten artist Forrest Bess spent most of his days in a fish shack in small-town Texas, on a strip of land accessible only by boat. A consummate loner, he believed he could achieve happiness only by shutting himself away and allowing nature to inspire his painting and philosophies, which challenged ideas of gender before anyone talked about them. While we'd never advocate total isolation, we are in favor of the occasional solitary retreat--a.k.a. "me time." So hunker down with a good summer read, and let the silence wash over you. You'll be surprised how at one with the world you feel. Keep clicking to get the Forrest Bess look.
