In an interesting move, Prada announced today that it would be revisiting its spring/summer 2011 collection in a special show to be staged in Beijing on January 22nd, 2011. The news, while not groundbreaking, is indicative of fashion's recent interest in quickly growing Chinese economy and its obsession with luxury goods and apparel. It's hard to ignore the fact that with the lingering economic downturn still on American consumers' minds, high-end labels have been setting their sites on global bank accounts to help bolster sales, and China is quickly racing to the top of that list. While the show itself may not seem that interesting nor exciting, the fact remains that moves like these are savvy displays of affection to a new customer base that may soon become the primary source of income for fashion designers.
