How to Succeed in Fashion Without Really Trying: The Tavi Edition

Oh, the internet. The great democratizer. All you need is a phone cord and a computer, and you too can skip right through that college english diploma, the summer internships, the years of slaving as a low-level, and poorly paid, assistant and head straight to the top of the masthead. Don't believe us? Last Friday, tween blogging sensation Tavi Gevinson, who has made no secret of her love of the nineties fashion rag Sassy, announced that she would be joining forces with Jane Pratt (former EIC of Sassy) to start a magazine for "wallflowery girls".

This is a game-changer if we've ever seen one. Gevinson, who is a mere 14 years old already sits front row at the most in-demand fashion shows and hob-knobs with the most famous designers. She hasn't even made it past her freshman year of high school and she's helping launch a magazine. It's both amazing and confounding. And while we love Tavi and her unique eye and special brand of nymph-like charm, it seems a tad out there to have her responsible for he fate of a magazine. While the internet is a-buzz with excitement, we're wondering just how much input Gevinson will have and how much of the responsibilities will fall on the shoulders of the incredibly intelligent and able Pratt. But for now, we'll put away our exasperated feelings and revel in the rise of the new media. Print is dead! Long live print!
