Andrew Mukamal: New York Fashion Week Day 5

Fashion week over here at People's Rev has been pretty tame thus far, but yesterday started crunch time for the four shows we're working on for this week. Still, I was able to break away from the office, with Kelly's permission of course, and had a chance to head up to Milk Studios with my girl Becka Diamond for the Rad Hourani show. As soon as we stepped out of the car in front of Milk, clad in black velvet leggings, hers Number9 and mine vintage Armani layered under my S/S 2009 Givenchy leather shorts, we quickly got the feeling that something was wrong. No check in? No swarming photographers? How could this be?

These should have been a dead giveaway but it wasn't until Becka and I arrived on the second floor space that we were informed that the show had just ended! As both of us gasped in disbelief, quickly turning our backs to the post-show reporters waiting for a quick interview with Rad, we concluded drinks were absolutely in order. Luckily we were both sporting funeral-chic looks, mine highlighted by my floor length Rick Owens "reaper" hooded sweatshirt and hers by her incredible Black net veil (totally channeling Lydia-from-Burton's-Beetlejuice), which seemed perfectly appropriate for the mourning of a missed show.

After a few beers at the 8th floor bar it was time for me to head back to the office just in time to catch the girls locking down the Toni Francesc seating chart. Just as I walked in the door I caught wind of the impromptu screening party Kelly was planning for the premiere of Kell On Earth episode 3 and hopped into a cab to head over to Dean & Deluca with Kelly to grab some grub. In a typical whirlwind Cutrone-style shopping trip we raced through the store, which Kelly and I now know like the looks of Rick Owens' most recent collection, grabbing various cheeses, breads, salads, pastries and entrees before checking out and racing back to Kelly's apartment to prep before everyone arrived.

Watched the new episode in a room packed with the likes of designer David Delfin, Ben & Jerry's CEO Walt Freese, the President of Mexico City Fashion week, Joanna Bennett, my Mom and brother and of course the rest of us from The Rev. Unfortunately we had to run downstairs after the show to finish up with some work, causing me to miss out of the big event of the evening -- Marc Jacobs after party at Boom Boom. Left the office and headed home to get some rest before our crazy three days of shows. Check back in tomorrow to hear about my day at the tents!
