A Polish politician is angry that his local zoo has acquired an elephant that prefers the company of other males. "We didn't pay 37 million zlotys ($11 million) for the largest elephant house in Europe to have a gay elephant live there," says Michal Grzes, a conservative (natch) councilor in the city of Poznan. His manties are twisted primarily because he expected the "investment" to pay out in the form of bebeh elephants; but, still, what a d-baggy thing to say! The 10-year-old African elephant is affectionate toward his male pals but has been repeatedly moved to new zoos because he's aggressive with females -- hitting them with his trunk and pushing them into the pool. Memo to Polish politicians: He's also a giant, ultra-intelligent and emotional wild animal living in captivity -- cut the dude a break.
