Charli XCX and Sam Smith seem to have a budding friendship. First they were as thick as thieves at the VMAs and now Charli's covered Smith's hit song "Stay With Me" during a session for Portland's 95.5 Bing Lounge.
The "Break the Rules" singer put her own spin on Smith's poignant tune. Rather than try and emulate Smith's epically forlorn and weighty vocals, Charli strips the track down and goes for poppier take on the song, which is in keeping with her persona. Charli's rendition comes hot on the heels of FKA Twigs' quivering cover of the track, which was also very impressive.
Charli XCX's second LP, Sucker, drops October 21 on Neon Gold/Atlantic Records.
