The Eddy will be about “a club, its owner, the house band, and the chaotic city that surrounds them."

Damien Chazelle is trading in the city of stars for the city of lights. The director whose film La La Land was nominated for a record 14 Oscars last year is bringing his magic touch for musicals to the small screen and creating an eight-episode show for Netflix called The Eddy.

The show is set in Paris and will center around "a club, its owner, the house band, and the chaotic city that surrounds them," according to a press release, and will feature dialogue in French, English, and Arabic. Chazelle will serve as the executive producer and direct two episodes, while Harry Potter and the Cursed Child scribe Jack Thorne will write the series. For our Alanis Morissette stans, the music is written by Glen Ballard, who cowrote Jagged Little Pill.

In a statement about the show, Chazelle said, "I've always dreamed of shooting in Paris, so I'm doubly excited to be teaming up with [writer Jack Thorne], Glen and [executive producer Alan Poul] on this story, and thrilled that we have found a home for it at Netflix."
