“Looksmaxxing” is at the heart of a new documentary examining the criminal underbelly of this controversial subculture.
The manosphere-adjacent internet movement, devoted to going to extreme lengths to maximize attractiveness, has been a hot topic of conversation as Clavicular, the misogynistic face of the image-obsessed community, has repeatedly made headlines for his live-streaming antics and legal troubles.
But it turns out looksmaxxing has an even darker side than just destructive self-improvement techniques like bone smashing and penis stretching; murder is involved too.
Get Huge: Looksmaxxing to Death is an upcoming true crime documentary exploring the death of a looksmaxxing YouTuber who passed away in Thailand under suspicious circumstances that seem to point back to the viral subculture.
The three-part docuseries will deliver “an unflinching portrait of masculinity in the influencer age, where extreme biohacking, online performance, and a series of suspicious deaths converge,” according to Hulu.
What is ‘Get Huge: Looksmaxxing to Death’ about?
Get Huge: Looksmaxxing to Death is an upcoming Hulu true crime documentary that is set to examine the community that has bred incel-adjacent influencers like Clavicular and Hexumlite.
“Deep in the manosphere, an underground movement promises to unlock human potential—bulging muscles, bigger penises, eternal youth,” the official synopsis reads.
When penis-enlargement expert Leo & Longevity, whose real name is Leif Abdullah Algaz, is found dead in Thailand, suspicion lands on Dr. Tony Huge and his right-hand man Connor Murphy. Huge is “a guru pushing homemade biohacks on a devoted following willing to risk everything for the cause” but his fellow alpha-male influencers quickly become internet sleuths who come up with wild theories about what happened.
The synopsis continues, “Soon, a darker pattern emerges: Leo isn't the first of the inner circle to die under mysterious circumstances. Will he be the last?”
What is the controversy between Clavicular and Disney/Hulu?
Clavicular, whose real name is Braden Peters, served Disney/Hulu a cease and desist letter after he caught documentarians Jennings Brown and James Kristofik filming him backstage at New York Fashion Week, where he walked the runway for fashion designer Elena Velez in February.
Peters probably should have been more worried about his own legal troubles — he recently pleaded not guilty to raping an underage girl after she was given alcohol — since he’s not even the subject of the documentary. Peters just happens to be the most famous influencer within the subculture so his likeness is briefly used in the movie, despite him having nothing to do with the death the documentary examines.
When will 'Get Huge: Looksmaxxing to Death’ premiere?
The three-part series will debut November 10 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the U.S. and on Disney+ internationally.
