French drag is taking over, baby!
Best known for competing on RuPaul's Drag Race season 12 and hosting three seasons of Drag Race France, Nicky Doll made a herstoric appearance at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Nicky appeared in a fashion/runway segment of the opening ceremony alongside Drag Race France season 1 winner Paloma, season 3 queen Piche, and Legendary star Giselle Palmer. The queens first stood right next to the runway and stared fiercely at the models strutting. In a subsequent segment, Nicky and the other queens were shown actually walking the runway as well.
This is a huge moment for queer and drag representation at a global event like the Olympics, and also shows how French drag artists are becoming mainstream stars in the country.
Kam Hugh, a contestant from Drag Race France season 1, was also spotted during another segment of the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony.
