Between hosting the first-ever drag king reality competition series — Revry’s King of Drag — and acting on shows like Somebody Somewhere and Elsbeth, Murray Hill has been on a roll in recent years. Now, “Mr. Showbiz” has also been honored in the Out100, Out's annual list of LGBTQ+ changemakers.
In his Out100 profile, Hill discussed the importance of encouraging the LGBTQ+ community to be more inclusive in its fight for queer and trans rights, noting: “After decades in this game, I still see drag kings, butches, masc folks, lesbians, and trans men treated as an afterthought.”
“I love the spirit of ‘trans is beautiful’ and ‘protect the dolls,’ but I hope our language expands to include everyone. ‘Protect the Ken dolls’ too,” Hill suggested.
The LGBTQ+ icon also described his job as making sure “everybody’s got a seat at the showbiz table, even if I have to pull up a folding chair myself.”
