Matt Damon as a future guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race? It's more likely than we may think!

Did Matt Damon just say "gay rights"?!

The gays are losing their minds with the pictures and videos of Damon partying it up with drag queens — particularly with legendary Miami queen Athena Dion — during a trip to Mykonos, Greece.

One particular video re-shared by X user @1epicc went absolutely viral over the weekend — accumulating 9.7 million views and 12,000 likes as of this writing. In the video, Damon and Dion are seen talking to someone called Anastasia.

"Anastasia, why aren't you here?" the Good Will Hunting actor said in the video. "I love you so much, and I'm so proud of the show that I just saw. I need you to be here next time."

The original post with these pictures and videos was shared by Dion on July 3, 2023 — literally one year ago! — while performing at a gay bar called JackieO' Mykonos. As seen below, the original Instagram carousel also featured photos with Liam Hemsworth.

In the caption, Dion tagged Chris Hemsworth as someone who was seemingly also attending the event. She wrote:

"What a NIGHT!!! We were all blown away to spend the night performing for and partying with [Matt Damon, [Liam Hemsworth], [Chris Hemsworth], and their friends and family! What a fun night in Mykonos! Matt even gave a special shout-out to my mom! They were so sweet and fun!"

It's worth noting that Damon got in hot water with the LGBTQ+ community back in August 2021 when he freely volunteered a bizarre story involving the f-word and his daughter. The Martian actor told The Sunday Times:

"The word that my daughter calls the 'f-slur for a homosexual' was commonly used when I was a kid, with a different application. I made a joke months ago and got a treatise from my daughter. [Luciana] left the table. I said, 'Come on, that's a joke! I say it in the movie Stuck on You!'"

But Damon's daughter, who was only 12 at the time, insisted on educating her father. "She went to her room and wrote a very long, beautiful treatise on how that word is dangerous," he added. "I said, 'I retire the f-slur!' I understood."

On the very next day that his original statement was published, Damon clarified that he had actually never used the f-slur and explained that the story he recalled wasn't shared in a thorough way.

"During a recent interview, I recalled a discussion I had with my daughter where I attempted to contextualize for her the progress that has been made — though by no means completed — since I was growing up in Boston," Damon said at the time. "And, as a child, heard the word 'f*g' used on the street before I knew what it even referred to. I explained that that word was used constantly and casually, and was even a line of dialogue in a movie of mine as recently as 2003."

The actor went on, "She, in turn, expressed incredulity that there could ever have been a time where that word was used unthinkingly. To my admiration and pride, she was extremely articulate about the extent to which that word would have been painful to someone in the LGBTQ+ community, regardless of how culturally normalized it was. I not only agreed with her but thrilled at her passion, values, and desire for social justice."

Seeing Damon not only attending a drag show but seemingly having a blast at the event — to the point of recording videos and taking pictures with the queens — shows that he could have more appreciation and respect for the LGBTQ+ community than how it came off years ago when he made those statements. It's also worth noting that Damon had those interactions with Dion in the summer of 2023, at the height of the anti-drag discourse going on in the United States.

We hope we can count on Matt Damon as an ally. From the looks of it, he certainly had the time of his life partying it up in Mykonos with a bunch of fabulous queens!
