Matt Damon Was Still Using Antigay Slurs in 2021 and Wants You to Know

Matt Damon on red carpet.

It took a preteen to get him to stop.

In a story he probably didn't need to tell anyone: Matt Damon was still using the antigay slur, f*gg*t as of a few months ago.

In a new interview to promote Stillwater, Damon decided to open up about a recent dinner table conversation. Apparently, the Bourne trilogy star, used the pejorative and it caused his youngest daughter to leave the table. She was so incensed that she wrote him a long letter about the harmful nature of it.

"The word that my daughter calls the 'f-slur for a homosexual' was commonly used when I was a kid, with a different application," Damon told The Sunday Times. "I made a joke, months ago, and got a treatise from my daughter. [Luciana] left the table. I said, 'Come on, that's a joke! I say it in the movie Stuck on You!'" The 12-year-old was not impressed.

"She went to her room and wrote a very long, beautiful treatise on how that word is dangerous. I said, 'I retire the f-slur!' I understood," he continued.

Nice of you to share that cutesy little anecdote with us all.

For the uninformed, the word has been a known antigay slur for over a decade now -- even in supposed jokes. So that your pre-teen had to inform you in the year of quarantine 2021, is ... probably not something worth bragging over. Then again, he has a history of offering up unnecessary opinions at inconvenient times.

Billy Eichner certainly got his tweets off about the revelation.

"Imagine this headline about any other derogatory ethnic/racial/religious etc slur being used in 2021," he tweeted. "People woul dbe up in arms and rightfully so. But you're still allowed to be homophobic in this fake-woke industry HAPPY PRIDE!!!"
