The original Galinda would like a word with One Million Moms!
Broadway legend and gay icon Kristin Chenoweth knows she is "nothing without my gays," and when right-wing hate group One Million Moms tries to come for the LGBTQ+ community, she won't stand idly by.
Chenoweth, who originated the role of Glinda in the Broadway version of Wicked, commented on Out's recent Instagram post about One Million Moms' ridiculous attempted boycott of the Wicked movie.
"Everyone knows the 'one million Moms' are a mere few hundred. Maybe" she wrote with an eye-roll emoji. "It's called entertainment. Artistry. I am a Christian woman [who] originated the role of Glinda and all the silliness that these women spew out of hate. No no no. I can’t help it : I try to love 'em anyways. For they don’t get it. For anyone who wants to see girl power, then go so WICKED. Onstage or in a movie theater." She concluded the post with a series of heart emojis.
This is far from the only time Chenoweth has shared her love for the queer community during the Wicked film press tour.
While at the Los Angeles premiere for the movie, Chenoweth stopped to talk to Out on the red carpet.
"I love the gays," she said before bursting into song, "I'm nothing without my gays!"
In an interview with Gay Times, Ariana Grande, who plays Glinda in the film, said that "Glinda might be a little in the closet. You never know. Give it a little more time," when asked about fans who ship Elphaba and Glinda romantically.
Chenoweth saw that clip and shared her own thoughts, saying "I thought so too way back when…" in reference to her time playing the character.
