The Fellow Travelers star plays Fiyero in the upcoming two-part musical movie.

Wicked star Jonathan Bailey wants us all to get ready to have our minds blown by the highly-anticipated, two-part movie musical when it finally hits theaters in 2024 and 2025.

Bailey, who plays Fiyero in the upcoming two-part film adaptation of the Broadway smash Wicked, was interviewed by People Magazine recently about what it was like filming the movie and what fans of the beloved musical should expect.

Bailey said that in order to film, he had to pack his schedule to the brim, as he was also shooting Bridgerton in London and Showtime’s Fellow Travelers in Toronto at the same time. He said that in one week, he filmed in Toronto on Friday, filmed Bridgerton on Saturday, and had choreo rehearsal with Ariana Grande, who plays Glinda, on Sunday.

"I had an amazing dance coach in Toronto where I was, and we worked on the choreography on Sundays and any days off — not that I had any days off," he said. "Poor Matt [Bomer]. We shared a two-way trailer, so whenever I was dancing, I think I was rocking him either awake or to sleep."

“Everyone who’s involved is a theater nerd,” Bailey said, adding that the group is “completely bonded for life” after filming the two-parter.

He mentioned that he and Ariana Grande bonded over one specific thing: watching Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh act shortly after she won her Oscar for Everything, Everywhere All at Once.

"I literally think the Oscar was just off-screen watching the scene as it took place," he told People. "Me and Ari were very giggle-y that day, and to see Michelle Yeoh sing and be brilliant was amazing."

Bailey also spoke in the interview about working opposite Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, Fiyero’s love interest.

"Having watched her perform and doing opposite her and just seeing what she's doing is pretty incredible,” he said.

Overall, Bailey couldn’t be more excited for the films to come out and for fans to finally see them.

“It’s going to blow people’s minds. So get ready. You’ve got a year to prepare,” he said.

Wicked: Part One is scheduled to hit theaters on November 27, 2024.
