The Fellow Travelers and Bridgerton actor confirmed that he has a partner.

Jonathan Bailey has a man – officially!

If you were fantasizing about dating Bailey while watching his stellar performances on Fellow Travelers and/or Bridgerton… well, he does have a partner already.

Bailey called his partner a “lovely man” in an interview with the Eastern Standard. “It’s not secret, but it’s private,” he explained of the relationship.”

The actor added, “Having a private life is, for me, completely critical. I don’t know if I would be able to be as confident to speak out on other things if I felt that my whole life was up for grabs.”

Elsewhere in the interview, 35-year-old Bailey talked about growing up with a lot of internalized shame for being gay. It also didn’t help that LGBTQ+ representation in mainstream media wasn’t always the most positive thing.

Bailey explained:

“The majority of gay people were either the butt of jokes, or being caught in sexual acts and considered deviants, or they were committing suicide, or they were dying of AIDS.”

The actor continued, “Every five years is a different gay generation. It was nowhere near as tough as if I’d have been born 15 years earlier. Me and my friends, two in four, if not three in four, would not be here.”

With Fellow Travelers reaching its grand finale soon, fans are looking forward to seeing Bailey playing the character of Fiyero in the two-part, live-action adaptation of Wicked for the big screen.

Fellow Travelers is now streaming on Showtime.
