Glen Powell almost enrolled at William McKinley High.

During an appearance on Jake Shane's podcast, Therapuss, this week, the Twisters star said he auditioned for a role in the hit musical series Glee, but he lost the job to one of his best friends.

"One of my best buddies in the world is this guy Chord Overstreet," Powell revealed during Thursday's episode. "We both auditioned for Glee. We both auditioned for the same role.... We were both in the waiting room at the same time."

He went on to explain that he and Overstreet met in acting class and had been "pals for a really long" before going out for the same character, who would later be nicknamed "Trouty Mouth" in the show. "We were down to the wire on Sam Evans, and he got it," Powell said, referring to the Glee character ultimately played by Overstreet. "But, like, he's still one of my best friends."

Powell also talked about how he got a front-row seat to Overstreet's rise to fame, as the two became roommates right after auditioning for the show.

"We moved in together as he went on this crazy Glee ride, which was, like, kind of wild," Powell said of watching one of his "best friends in the world" have such a meteoric ascent. "It was, like, pretty crazy to be around, because it was the biggest show in the world."

Sam Evans joined Glee in season 2 as a new member of the New Directions. In the show, he worked as a teen stripper, dated Quinn, Santana, Brittany, and Mercedes, and ultimately took over as the glee club's teacher.

While he may have missed out on playing Sam, Powell did eventually get a chance to work with Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan on the 2015 horror comedy series Scream Queens. In Scream Queens, he played frat bro Chad Radwell.
