Orville Peck just made history as the first gay singer to grace the cover of Playgirl, and that got us thinking: who else would we want to see bare it all on the pages of the magazine?
Originally designed for straight women, having Orville Peck pose in his mask, and little else has proven that Playgirl is for the gays too — or at least it could be if they picked more gay singers as their cover stars.
Fans never got to see Freddy Mercury and George Michael as Playgirl centerfolds (a travesty), but there are plenty of current gay pop stars and singer-songwriters who readers would love to drool over.
No pressure to the stars on this list; everyone should get to choose if they want to show skin in the name of fame, but if all you needed was a nudge to call up Playgirl…nudge nudge!
Olly Alexander
After making it big with his band Years & Years, Olly Alexander struck out on his own and launched a successful solo career. Alexander already surprised fans with his solo career by wearing next to nothing in a shoot for Versace, so Playgirl seems like the next logical step.
Troye Sivan
Troye Sivan already knows sex sells. Two of his biggest hits are “Rush,” about poppers and queer sex, and “One of Your Girls,” which features him giving Ross Lynch a lap dance while in drag in the music video, so jumping into Playgirl just makes sense.
