Soccer stars Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger are splitting up, as Harris has filed for divorce from her wife of nearly four years.

Krieger and Harris first met when they played together for the US National Team in 2010, and quickly became close friends. Soon, the two became teammates on the Orlando Pride in the NWSL. In 2019, they became engaged.

"We became really close friends, and we just hung out, we clicked, and we had so much in common," Harris told People at the time. "We always sat next to each other on the bus and on flights, and we kind of just talked about our dreams and our hopes and what we wanted to do one day when we grew up. Because at the time, we were kids ... The rest has kind of been history. Here we are nine years later, and we're going to be getting married this year."

Nine months later, in December of 2019, the pair got married in a ceremony in Miami, where they were surrounded by friends, family, and teammates.

In 2021, the couple adopted their first child, their daughter Sloane. A year later, after they had both been traded to Gotham FC, they also adopted a second child, a son named Ocean.

Both Krieger and Harris have won World Cups with the US National Team, and the two were one of the highest profile couples in women’s professional sports. Krieger currently plays for NJ/NY Gotham FC in the NWSL, and Harris is retired. Harris is retiring after this season.

According to Page Six, Harris filed for divorce on September 19, and that the split seems to be an amicable one. The site also reports that they plan on signing a parenting plan together that will take care of any custody problems.
