Lizzo Gifted Her Dress to This Writer to Wear to the Out100 Party

Thanks to the "About Damn Time" singer, 2022 Out100 honoree Aurielle Marie will be serving looks at this year’s celebration!

Aurielle Marie is one of the honorees in this year's Out100 for her accomplishments in the literary and publishing fields.

To attend the official Out100 party, Marie took to social media and asked none other than Grammy-winning popstar Lizzo to borrow a dress that they could wear for the celebration. But it was a "cold call," of course, because what were the chances that Lizzo would see this request and would send out such a dress to someone she didn't yet know on a personal level?

Well... it worked! This week, Marie received a package at their house containing the dress that she wanted to borrow from Lizzo. The writer documented the entire process in a TikTok video that has now gone viral on various social networks.

Marie wrote in the caption:

"I might've gotten a few tears on your dress Lizzo, my bad babe! Words don't suffice, and thank you isn't enough. But THANK YOU! I'm speechless. Y'all! A b*tch is certified LIZZO SIZED!!!!!! And LOOK AT THIS GOWN! Out Magazine here I come!"

As a poet and essayist, Marie said in their Out100 profile that they "couldn't imagine some words on a thin page doing as much liberatory work as our protesting or grassroots organizing." Now, Marie is one of the most important LGBTQ+ voices in the literary world.

Not only will Marie have a great night at the Out100 party for being one of the honorees, but she now also has an incredible story behind the dress that they're wearing for the event.

Lizzo is the best - and we're so excited for Marie to have the night of her life!

Tamar Braxton learns 'not all gay men want to be called girl'

The singer had an awakening after a heated exchange with Phag Tawlk host Craig Stewart.

Tamar Braxton has learned that “not all gay men want to be called ‘girl’...or bitch,” as the singer revealed in a Thursday post to Threads.

In the post, Braxton shared a clip of an interview with The Morning Hustle podcast, where she recounts the backlash to a heated exchange with Craig Stewart, a gay author and cohost of the podcast Phag Tawlk alongside Out100 honoree Ts Madison.

Caught on social media, the four-minute argument occurred during a live taping ofPhag Tawlk last weekend, during which Braxton called Stewart “girl” and “bitch" via a microphone from the audience. Although the pair eventually made up, some users on social media criticized Braxton for using the derogatory terms.

On The Morning Hustle, Braxton defended her use of the words, pointing to the queer context of the space they were used in. “I wasn’t being derogatory; that’s the lingo…. I was at a gay event with my gay friends and that’s how we talk,” she said.

“The name of the show is called [Phag Tawlk] so how are you mad at me because I called you girl or bitch,” she added. “I wasn’t being derogatory, but that’s the lingo and I’m a very big supporter of the LGBTQ community. I didn’t think it wasn’t fitting to not say that."

By the time she posted the segment to Threads, however, the BET Award winner appeared to have reached a different conclusion: "So here’s the thing. Not all Gay men want to be called 'girl'…… or bitch….I’m just learning this. I talk like this EVERYDAY!!!! …. That doesn’t mean that it’s ok. Shout out to @craigthewriterstewart for allowing me the grace to understand that. I appreciate the lesson."

In a recent interview with Out promoting her new food show Cooking Sessions: with Tamar and Ms. E, Braxton delivered words of encouragement to the LGBTQ+ community. “Be who you are. People who accept you will accept you, and those who don’t, stay away from them. I’ve always been an advocate for the LGBTQ community since the fourth grade," she said.

Braxton hosts a weekly podcast called Life, Love & Beyond, co-hosted by medium and life coach Taz Singh, alongside viral sensation James Wright Chanel, who is a gay man and Braxton’s best friend. When discussing the importance of LGBTQ+ representation on the show toOut, Braxton emphasized, “My whole staff is LGBTQ. It’s important for me to stay grounded and true to myself while valuing the opinions of people who matter to me."
