Pregnant music superstar Halsey has taken to social media to update fans on her pronoun journey.
A couple weeks ago, fans noticed that the 26-year-old "Without Me" singer had changed her pronouns on social media from she/her to she/they. After fans flocked to her Twitter and Instagram to congratulate them, Halsey responded by posting an Instagram story that simply read "Thank u" with a red heart emoji.
Now, they've spoken on the change for the first time. In a new Instagram story, Halsey explains why she posted the change. "For those asking RE: my updated IG bio, I am happy with either pronouns," they wrote. "The inclusion of 'they' in addition to 'she' feels most authentic to me. If you know me at all, you know what it means to me to express this outwardly. Thanks for being the best."

Halsey is bisexual, and is currently pregnant with her first child with screenwriter Alev Aydin. She had previously opened up about having a miscarriage in 2015.
In February, Halsey talked about how the pregnancy is affecting the way she sees her gender. "I've been thinking lots about my body. It's strange to watch yourself change so quickly," they wrote in an Instagram post. "I thought pregnancy would give me very strong, binary feelings about "womanhood" but truly it has leveled my perception of gender entirely. My sensitivity to my body has made me hyper aware of my humanness and that's all."
The singer also recently launched her first ever beauty line, the vegan makeup brand about-face. When she announced the line, she said, "about-face was a baby of my own conception. And it's special to me cause I'm not just the face of some company, I'm the Creator, the Head Makeup Artist, and I hand selected every detail along the way."RELATED: Elliot Page is 'Time' Magazine's First Trans Masculine Cover Star
