Forget waxing and straight razors -- a quick buzz is the best way to prime your body for summer.
The tale of Goldilocks, despite the heroine's predilection for breaking and entering, contains an important message regarding the art of moderation. As summer approaches, the notion of just right becomes especially relevant to furry fellows. No more waxing away all traces of your hirsute machismo -- in fact, we recommend flaunting your hairy virility -- but it's important to tame those short and curlies.
POLL: TELL US WHICH YOU PREFER
Consider using a body trimmer to maintain body hair through the warmer seasons. "I wouldn't suggest buzzing down to less than 1/4 of an inch," says Michael Gilman, founder of GroomingLounge.com. "You risk it looking like stubble -- the 5-o'clock-shadow kind -- and that's not attractive." Kristen Gugliotta of Braun suggests mimicking a typical face-shaving routine. "Trim when the hair is dry," she explains. "It's difficult to get the right length otherwise. Also, pull the skin taut before starting." Gugliotta notes an additional aesthetic benefit for clipping body hair: "Tapering down and removing the hair on your lower stomach can give you a more toned appearance."
THE TOOLS
Michael Gilman, founder of GroomingLounge.com, doesn't have a preference, he says, but he notes to "always use a groomer with guards." Kristen Gugliotta of Braun agrees: "Make sure it's adjustable so you can choose the length that's right for you." Here are a few products to get you started.
