A group of family, friends, collaborators and artists inspired by celebrated queer New York photographer will honor the artists on June 12 at the ReMemory tribute event. Walt Cessna, a longtime fixture of the gay NYC art world, passed away in March.

"Walt's storied life has come to an untimely finish," reads a press release. "If his recent curation of Interface, a standard-setting exhibition at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art, and the release of the latest issue of his newest publication, Vaczine, were any indication, the power and impact of his work was only on the rise."
The release continues, saying, "Cessna discovered and collaborated with generations of artists, gallerists, authors, poets and beautiful subjects on a scale that would be daunting for any figure (his Tumblr blog boasts over 20,000 images) and, through the eyes of many artists he has inspired, he himself has become the subject of countless works of art."
The event will take place at the Bowery Hotel, featuring a program of speakers and performers impacted by Cessna's legacy. A live-stream of the event will be available to watch online.
