Jonathan Van Ness Reveals He Got Married Earlier This Year

Jonathan Van Ness has gotten married.

Just because you're a public persona doesn't mean you can't have a private life.

As we say goodbye to this year, some people are looking back at the past 12 months to see what exactly happened. While that included a lot of music and Zoom calls for many of us (and apparently a bunch of Grindr activity) for one Queer Eye star, it meant taking a relationship to the next level.

In a new Instagram post, Jonathan Van Ness has revealed that they got married earlier this year.

"Thank you universe for allowing me to be here and thanks to everyone who has supported me," Van Ness wrote in a caption to a series of photos. "2020 was a year unlike any other." Indeed. The nonbinary star recalled campaigning and getting involved politically, touring, Zoom quizzes and more. He even wrote of tumbling with Simon Biles for an ad campaign.

"I got married to my best friend [and] have a loving partner to continue building my life with," Van Ness also wrote. In one of the photos, Van Ness appears hand in hand wearing cream with someone he doesn't identify. But superfans could identify the unnamed person as Mark Peacock, who followed it up with a post of his own.

"2020 brought on more changes than I've ever been a part of before," Peacock wrote. "I left London and moved across the Atlantic, got dressed up for numerous seriously hilarious Zoom quizzes, re-discovered a love for gardening, learning to drive on the left, got married to my soulmate and one true love [Jonathan Van Ness] and adopted a little Jack Russell called Pablo and entered a family with 4 amazing cats."

Sleuths have found that the pair were liking and commenting on one another's Instagram posts since late 2019. They also seemed to attend Oscars events together this year, right before pandemic restrictions set in.

Peacock is a fitness expert, having appeared on the cover of and given tips to publications like Men's Health UK. On Twitter Van Ness revealed the ceremony happened over the summer.

"We got married in the backyard of a house we rented over the summer with a socially distanced judge [and] a photographer," they wrote. "Our parents watched over FaceTime. Love my Mark [and] we're so happy to share this news."

Congratulations to the lovely couple.
