Spearheaded by creative director Stefano Pilati, Ermenegildo Zegna Couture's latest endeavor, Made in Japan, is a special artistic project that unites Japan’s prestigious heritage in fabric development with high Italian tailoring. Each nuance is designed for the generation of confident, yet quiet leaders who are sustainably aware and influenced by their individualism.
The Made in Japan collection features a balance of suits, formalized sportswear and denim, and accessories all completely handmade in Japan by local artisans, using locally-crafted fabrics and premium leathers. It will be sold exclusively in Ermenegildo Zegna’s stores in Tokyo's Ginza (available now) and in Osaka, Japan, starting October 1.
Stefano Pilati’s vision was inspired by five charismatic individuals, photographed with the designer and Gildo Zegna, the brand's chief executive officer, by Takashi Homma in the campaign.
Homma also produced a video narrative, “Made in Japan,” shot through multiple perspectives. The key opinion leaders include Ryo Kase, actor and architect; Zaiyu Haswgawa, Michelin-star rated chef; Kai Murakami, creative director, and Keiichiro Shibuya, composer and musician. Watch the video below:
The curated list of individuals represents the brand’s emphasis on a contemporary collection with local connection and global affinity. Ermenegildo Zegna Couture continues to showcase its leadership in luxury menswear, with the aim to generate a cultural dialogue in the form of wearable artifacts, and in keeping with the brand’s progressive embodiment of today’s global spirit.
