Jesse Tyler Ferguson's husband launches a buy one, give one bedding line for men.
Menswear has been undergoing a massive diversification and expansion in the last few years, but as it grows some less-likely avenues are likely to escape notice. Lawyer and tastemaker Justin Mikita (who's also the husband of Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson), and Greg Shugar, founder and creator of The Tie Bar, saw one of these blank spaces in fashionable men's bedding, and decided to fill it in with Thread Experiment.
Launching this week, Thread Experiment includes 16 originally-designed duvet, comforter, and sham sets, along with an array of solid and print pillow cases. The collection utilizes traditionally menswear patterns with nautical themes, geometric shapes, paisley, and tartan. "In the last five years we've seen a renaissance in menswear," Mikita says. "More than ever before, men have cared about the way they dress, groom, and smell. So why should that stop when he gets to the bedroom?"
Thread Experiment also has a layer of social responsibility: With any purchase of a full bedding set, the company will donate a full set of bedding to a homeless shelter or a qualifying housing charity in need. Shop the inaugural collection here.
