Walk into the (Moulin) Rouge purse first.
In the world of RuPaul's Drag Race winner and The Traitors star Bob the Drag Queen, there's no point in entering a room if you won't do it "purse first" — literally or metaphorically. The multihyphenate has just done it again, this time on his Broadway debut, by adding his catchphrase into the Moulin Rouge! The Musical canon while playing the role of Harold Zidler.
Bob's debut performance in Moulin Rouge! The Musical took place on the evening of Tuesday, January 27, and there was clearly magic in the air as an excited audience watched Bob's spectacular, spectacular debut.
"Certainly the audience was happy to have Bob there, giving the drag icon a standing ovation during curtain call," Dave Quinn wrote for People. "Moments before that, during the show's iconic megamix, Bob performed a snippet of his 2016 hit 'Purse First' (featuring DJ Mitch Ferrino)."
"I'm just saying, technically I'm a Broadway composer. Call me Stephen Schwartz," Bob joked. As seen in the video, right before resuming the show, the award-winning alum of HBO's We're Here broke character for a moment to earnestly ask the ensemble, "Ya'll do this eight time a week?! Okay, well... I signed the contract!"
The audience ate it up, obviously, recognizing that Bob will certainly bring even more humor to an already larger-than-life character like Harold Zidler.
Bob also got to experience his first-ever Broadway bow, and got a special spotlight for this being his debut. Unsurprisingly, the audience gave Bob a passionate standing ovation.
To quote Paris Is Burning, "Why y'all gagging so? She bring it to you every ball!"
The wild and hilarious Bob the Drag Queen is unstoppable, and we love to see it.
Bob the Drag Queen is performing an eight-week limited engagement through March 22. For tickets and more information about the production, visit MoulinRougeMusical.com.
