Bella Ramsey is Lesbian Icon Ellie in HBO's 'The Last of Us' Series

Pedro Pascal is joining the Game of Thrones star on her journey.

Post apocalyptic lesbians rejoice, our savior is here.

Game of Thrones actor Bella Ramsey has been cast as the iconic lesbian video game character Ellie in the upcoming HBO adaptation of the hit video game The Last of Us.

The series is being written by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and the pilot will be directed by Kantemir Balagov -- that is expected to cover the events of the first game. In a world 20 years after a virus has ravaged mankind, turning victims into killer mutants called Clickers, Ellie has to travel with Joel, a world weary smuggler who's tasked with getting Ellie out of a quarantine zone to find out if she holds the secret to curing the virus.

The first game won wide critical acclaim and sold over 17 million copies, becoming one of the signature video games of the last decade. The sequel was released last year, and won game of the year at The Game Awards. Ellie's queerness is only a small part of the first game, being confirmed in downloadable content. But in the sequel, her queerness is front and center as she fights alongside her girlfriend Dina.

You probably know Ramsey from playing Lyanna Mormont on Game of Thrones. More recently she appeared in the second season of HBO's His Dark Materials adaptation, The Worst Witch, and Princess Emmy.

She will be joined by her GOT co-star Pedro Pascal as Joel, the man who becomes a father figure for Ellie as they travel together through a world filled with blood-thirsty mutants and even more dangerous human survivors.

Pascal, who currently stars on the Dinsey+ series The Mandalorian, recently celebrated his sister, Lux, coming out as a trans woman on the cover of Chilean magazine Revista Ya, calling her, "Mi hermana, mi corazon, nuestra Lux," or "my sister, my heart, our Lux."
