Kathy Griffin Is Hosting a Gay Porn Awards Show

It'll be one hell of a hot day in Southern California when the Str8UpGayPorn Awards come to Hollywood this January. Not only will they get to see their favorite performers get some much deserved trophies, but comedian and queer fave Kathy Griffin is also slated to host the show.

The Emmy and Grammy-winning actress (yes, Grammy!) and comedian will first give a keynote address at an affiliated conference held at the W Hotel Hollywood on January 11, then on the next night, she'll host the award ceremony at the Avalon Theater. Griffin, most widely known for the former Bravo reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, previously hosted the Daytime Emmys and the Shorty Awards, but handing out trophies for "favorite butt" and "favorite daddy" is a new one for her.

After two years on the road doing her "Laugh Your Head Off" World tour, Griffin couldn't be more excited about the gig, which feels very in her particular lane. "I've had the honor of performing for many kinds of audiences," she said. "I've been to the top, the bottom, the versatile, and baby, now I'm back!"

Griffin plans to use her keynote address to talk about the 50th anniversary of the legalization of porn, as well as the ongoing battle for free speech and expression both in and outside the porn world.

That's certainly a subject she knows a lot about. Griffin has spent the last two years tangled up in a fight with the Trump administration following a photoshoot in which she held up a mask that looked like Trump's severed head. After the photo, she was fired from several hosting and performing jobs, put on the No Fly List, and was under federal investigation by the Justice Department.

The Str8UpGaySummit is the adult industry's only gay business-to-business and business-to-consumer conference, where fans can meet their favorite stars, creators and check out the best brands in the biz. Previous award shows were hosted by Sandra Bernhard in 2017 and Bianca Del Rio, Blake Mitchell, and Boomer Banks in 2018.
