As the drag icon wrote on YouTube, "The 'Pelagic Shark Program' or what most refer to as 'The snorkel with sharks without a cage,' is an extensively developed experience based on shark behavioral research and data collection."

The Drag Race alumnus continued, "Integrated with educational informational, it is hailed as 'one of the best programs for inspiring shark and marine conservation.' Founded as a research program, One Ocean Diving opened to the public in an effort to help educate people about the reality of sharks and provide people with a first hand experience."

OUT caught up with Laganja to ask her what the experience was like, and how terrified she was prior to stepping foot in the ocean.

"I never thought in one million years I would dive with sharks, especially without a cage. I've always seen these creatures as something from a horror movie," she told OUT.

"But thanks to One Ocean Diving I discovered this is not the case. Watching these beautiful creatures glide through the water so effortlessly was truly a sight to see. At first I was very nervous and kept my feet up to my chest because I was afraid if they were dangling, the sharks might bite my limbs. But after about five minutes I realized they were not interested in these legs! I could barely wait to let go of the beltline and swim out with them once I had reached a state of calmness."

"Unfortunately I was not able to hold my breath as long as I would've liked to, but this experience made me realize I'd really like to get my scuba certification. I highly suggest anyone who has a love for nature, and especially the ocean, go on this experience. I promise it is extremely safe and completely worth facing your fear."
