Broadway Actor Calls Out Kanye West for Texting During ‘The Cher Show’

Cher deserves better than this!

Last night, Kanye West learned the hardest rule of Broadway: If you dare be on your phone during a performance, you will get your ass handed to you.

West attended the opening night of The Cher Show, the Broadway musical based on the icon's life, on Monday night in New York City. He and Kim Kardashian West were presumably having a cute little date night that got slightly less cute when Jarrod Spector, who plays Sonny Bono in the musical, called West out on Twitter for his bad theater etiquette -- during the show. "Hey @kanyewest so cool that you're here at @TheCherShow!" Spector tweeted. "If you look up from your cell phone you'll see we're doing a show up here. It's opening night. Kind of a big deal for us. Thanks so much."

This must have been especially embarrassing for Kardashian West, a huge Cher fan, who dressed as the icon for Halloween last year. Although considering the other social media storms she's weathered with her husband -- MAGA hat and all -- maybe this is low on the list.

On the red carpet, Kardashian West gushed about all things Cher. "I've always loved her attitude and how strong she is and how independent she is," she said. "She's been just really cool and someone that I've always looked up to so I'm excited to be here tonight."

After Spector's tweet went viral, West sent an apology. "The dynamics of Cher and Sonny's relationship made Kim and I grab each other's hand and sing 'I got you babe,'" West tweeted. "Please pardon my lack of etiquette. We have so much appreciation for the energy you guys put into making this masterpiece."

My question? What was Ye doing on his phone that was so important he could be distracted from Stephanie J. Block as Cher? New Yeezy designs to approve? DMs from Trump? Photos of himself? Actually, that last one seems like more of a Kim thing. Bet he's wishing he could turn back time right about now.
